New Spirituality on Popular Talk Show

The Queen of Talkshow tells her audience, "I am a Christian."

Friends, do not be deceived. The Jesus she speaks of is NOT the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible. The Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible came to die upon a cross and pay the penalty for our sins--a debt we could never pay because the payment required was a perfect, sinless Lamb--Jesus Christ who was both man and God was the only One who could fulfill the payment in full--He is the Lamb of God and is now exalted and seated at the right hand of the Father. So, by Jesus's shed blood, we can have the forgiveness of sins and not receive the punishment we deserve, which is eternal separation from God in Hell--a real, literal, hell--the lake of fire. Because Jesus paid the price for our sins by shedding his blood on the cross, we can now have forgiveness for sin. But in order to have our sins forgiven, we must accept His payment, we must believe in Him and the words He spoke. And the Father showed his approval of his Son's sacrifice when he raised his Son from the dead. This showed Jesus was indeed fully God and fully man. We must believe Jesus is the only way to the Father, which is the words He spoke!

--She says that there are many ways to God. Jesus said there is only One Way--through Himself and through Himself alone!

Don't be deceived. One cannot both believe Jesus is the only Way and also believe that there is more than one way to God. One cannot believe what the Bible teaches, which is that there is a literal Heaven and Hell and that we should be concerned with eternity and then also believe the new spirituality that teaches not to be concerned about the future or death because all that matter is now, the present moment and nothing else.

Do not fall for the lie that you can believe this spirituality taught be this talk show host and also be a Christian. This is impossible. There is no reconciliation between Christian doctrine and this 'new spirituality' preached by Oprah and friends.

What fellowship can light have with darkness or what concord hath Christ with Belial??

None.

Judge not, lest you be judged. Jesus said in Matthew 25:34-40... "Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

Oprah and her charities have helped thousands of people in dire circumstance, why not let God judge her heart?

Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

The lake of fire purifies and destroys whatever is thrown into it. Hell literally means "the grave." The second sentence says it is the second death. How can one be tormented and tortured if they are dead?

It is not perpetual torment, but it IS perpetual death. Once the judgement of death is given by the Almighty, it cannot be overturned, there is no parole.

The end.

Circa 1954, here are some verses to consider about judgment and hell. You present a few verses that do not represent the whole picture. When quoting Scripture, a person must look at the entire Bible not just a few verses. Reproving and rebuking someone for false teaching is very biblical. Also, hell is torment. This will be shown through the following verses. The Bible also warns about false teachers and prophets. Oprah is a false teacher. She does not believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to God, yet she claims to be a “Christian”.

Verses about Judging, Reproving, Rebuking

This passage speaks about judging hypocritically. For example, if we are committing adultery, we are not to judge someone who is committing adultery.

“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” Matthew 7:1-2

“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” John 7:24

We will know false prophets by their fruits. A fruit could be one’s doctrine. Oprah does not teach biblical doctrine. She teaches anti-biblical doctrine.

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:15-16

Good works do not necessarily mean that someone is doing God’s work. In fact, that person could still be doing Satan’s work.

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

We are to sharply rebuke false teachers who claim to be Christians.

“This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.” Titus 1:13-14

“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.” Acts 20:28-30

Paul sharply rebuked and name two men who were shipwrecking the faith.

“Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck; of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.” 1 Timothy 1:19-20

The church of Ephesus was scolded for leaving its first love, but it was praised for being able to discern that some who claimed to be Christians were liars.

“Unto the angel of the church in Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:” Revelation 2:1-2

We are instructed to turn away from those who practice a form of godliness but deny they power thereof.

“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 2:5

Those who preach another gospel, like Oprah, are accursed.

“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9
There are several other verses about hell. Here are just a few.

Hell’s fire will never be quenched. There is a second death, spoken of in Revelation 20, but this is not the same as the first death--the death of our physical bodies here on earth. The second death occurs after judgment day. The following verses will depict hell, the second death, where torment does occur and never ends. Also, you said that in hell people are “dead” and therefore could not be tormented. This is not what the Bible says. It says their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

“And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out; it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” Mark 9:47-48

“And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried. And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.” Luke 19:22-24

There is perpetual torment in the lake of fire, which hell is cast into. The devil, beast, and false prophet are perpetually tormented in the lake of fire.

“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” Revelation 20: 10

People who are not Christians will also be cast into the lake of fire.

“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 9:14-15

As you can see, there are several verses about judging, rebuking, hell, and false teachers. Circa 1954, I hope that you will not be deceived into thinking that Oprah is a Christian because of her “good works. ” What profits a man if he gains the whole world, yet loses his soul? Also, don’t be deceived into thinking that hell is not torment. The Bible is clear that those in the lake of fire (into which hell and death are cast) are tormented, and its fire is not quenched.
